Remembering the Brave 09

Zane participated in the 2nd Annual Armed Forces Memorial Match Shoot in May. Amber, the kids and I went to watch the boys on Sunday. It is held at the Colorado Rifle Club in Byers. Zane shot with open sights (which means he did not use a scope) and competed against a team of Marine’s. I was able to go down into the pits where the targets are during part of the match. This was a very neat experience and I am thinking about competing with Zane next year!

Here are the names of those honored at the memorial:
  • 2nd Lt. James Cathey
  • Lance Cpl. Gregory Rund
  • Lance Cpl. Justin Ellsworth
  • 1st Lt. Matthew Vandergrift
  • Lance Cpl. Nicklas Palmer
  • U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Falkel
  • U.S. Air Force Detective Michael Thomas
  • Lance Cpl. Andrew Riedel
  • Staff Sgt. Sam Holder
  • HM3 Christopher Anderson
  • U.S. Navy Seal GM 2 Danny Dietz
  • Lance Cpl. Kyle Burns
  • Lance Cpl. Tommy Slocum
  • U.S. Army Pfc. Jesse Givens
  • U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Justin Vasquez

Here is Brian shooting. You can see the targets off in the distance.

Barrett and Kyla found enjoyment in filling up this bottle with dirt.

The sunset was so beautiful on our drive back into Denver. This picture was taken while in motion!

Congrats to Matt & Amy

We attended Matt & Amy’s wedding on May 14. Matt is a 4 wheeling buddy of ours, actually we bought our Jeep wrangler from him. We saw Matt before the ceremony and he looked so nervous, but yet you could tell he was so happy!

This first picture Zane took while holding the camera in the aisle. I did the settings and then handed him the camera since he was at the end of the aisle.

Cousins

In April we got together at my mom’s house with Kurt & Kai, Joseph, Sarah, Adrianna & Alicia. I think this is the first time we have gotten a picture of the cousins together.

Easter 2009

Here are some pictures from Easter. Kyla received a palm at church and didn’t want to let it go. I made her dress last year when she was the flower girl in our friend’s wedding, and my mom added some silk embroidery to it (flowers on the collar and butterfly’s on the bottom). I took a close up picture of one of the butterfly’s. I still need to try to take a more formal picture, but I have been waiting for Barrett’s face to clear up a bit more (which it has, so maybe I will get to it this week).
We went to my parents house for dinner and also decorated cookies! Kyla learned the story of Jesus’s Resurrection at church and was so excited to share it with her visual aids.
The Easter Bunny even came to our house to deliver the kids baskets!!

Garden of the Gods in April!!

My mom and I went to Garden of the Gods back in the beginning of April. It was a beautiful day, but I left my camera at home because my battery was dead and I was having a hard time finding the charger. So, I took these pictures with my dad’s camera!
We didn’t have time to hike around, so we ended up driving around and had a picnic at one of the stops! We will need to go back to do more hiking.
Kyla and her rocks that Grandma got her!

Kyla took this picture of Me!

Snowshoeing!

Still catching up!! Back in March my sweet mom came and watched the kids so I could go snowshoeing with several ladies in my ward! We didn’t really know how great the snow would be and how far we were going to have to drive to get to good snow. But it had snowed the night before and snowed all day while we were out. We went up US-40 to Jones Pass. On our way home we decided to stop in Idaho Springs and enjoy Beaujo’s, which is the best Beaujo’s in CO!!

Here are a few pictures of our outing. The spots on the picture of us looking down at the camera are snowflakes.

The Park in March!

Sara, Max, and Miles came to visit us for a few days back in March! It was so nice outside that we had lunch at the park. Barrett was really interested in the Squirrels and kept trying to chase them. Max and Kyla are 6 months apart and are great friends. As we were walking back to the vehicle they were holding hands and I thought it was too cute!
