Hanging Out

These pictures were taken about a month ago.
We were trying to entertain Emmett with the activity mat one morning.
Barrett has recently been giving me fake smiles!
And he is really into Ironman and only wants to wear this shirt 24/7.

Trick or Treat

We took the kids to the Trunk or Treat on Saturday at our church.  I didn’t get any pictures of them that evening, but we took them out again on Halloween and I was able to take a few.  Zane dressed up as well.  If you have seen the movie, The Town, then you will recognize his costume!  We went to our friends neighborhood and they live in town homes, so we only went down two rows of the town home complex and the kids had enough candy!  Barrett was really into Trick or Treating this year!

Kyla was Belle and Barrett was a Boxer

Brian looking creepy!

Bringing Emmett Home

The picture above is of Emmett and his nurse in the NICU.  He had to do a car seat test before we could bring him home.  Since he fell asleep while he was doing the test, we decided to take him home with the fancy Hospital outfit and the wires as well.  Why wake a sleeping baby, right!!

Emmett was able to come home with us on Sunday the 12th!  He did great in the NICU and has been doing great at home as well.  Kyla has done well with the addition, Barrett has not done quite as well.  Here are some pictures of Kyla holding Emmett and Barrett fooling around when we came home from the hospital!!

Luckily I have some awesome parents and my Dad drove my Mom out from CA, they arrived in Denver on Saturday evening.  My Dad left on Monday to go back home, and my Mom stayed to help me out!  She has left now, and I sure do miss having her around!!

Early addition.

I seem to be having a hard time keeping this blog updated this year. We have added a beautiful addition to our family. In January we found out we were expecting. Since we have a girl and a boy we decided to keep the gender a surprise this time. My due date started out as September 28th and my Dr. Changed it to Oct. 1st and at my last appointment he mentioned Oct. 5th. I still went by the 28th.
I had seen my Doctor on the 31st of August for my 36 week appointment and everything looked great, so he had me cancel my next appointment, which would have been on the 9th, and would see me in two weeks. He also went out of town on the 8th for a long weekend.
Well, Thursday I was getting the kids and my self something to eat when I felt cramping and had a shortness of breath. I then felt the cramping(a lot like menstrual cramps) throughout the day, I still had three weeks until this baby would make an appearance, so I thought that the cramps were just a preparation. (I have only been induced, so these feelings were new for me). We put the kids to bed that evening and headed to bed ourselves a few hours later. I woke up at 2:30am and the cramping was stronger, so I decided I would take a bath. I noticed a slight red tint to my urine, so I decided to take a shower and then I would call the Doctor. When I got out of the shower I had a bloody show (sorry don’t know how to word it better). I called the Nurse hotline and after talking to a nurse for a few minutes she told me I should go to the hospital.
I proceeded to wake up Zane, who asked me if I was ok, which I replied, “no”. He then made me laugh and a bit nervous by saying, “You’re having a baby!” That’s a possibility. We called our dear friend who lives a block away and he came and sat with the kids. We left the house around 4 am and headed to the hospital. I really didn’t want to be sent home from the hospital, but I also didn’t want to have a baby before my mom could come, who now lives in CA.
We registered and a labor and delivery nurse took us to the L&D triage to check me. The nurse thought she’d be sending me home, but to everyone’s surprise I was already at 7cm. I was put in a room, it was about 5 am at this point, and told that the anesthesiologist was in a cesarean and would be 30 to 40 minutes. Holy Cow did the contractions get stronger in that time I waited for him. I honestly thought I was out of luck. The Doctor that was on call was delivering a baby at another hospital, 15 minutes away(my nurse didn’t tell me that until afterwards). The anesthesiologist came at 5:45, put the epidural in and I felt soooo much better. The Dr. Had arrived and broke my water and about 5 minutes later I felt the pressure, WoW! I pushed through 3 contractions and our baby boy arrived showering the doctor! They placed him on my belly for a few minutes.
Unfortunately since it all happened so fast he had swallowed fluid and inhaled it as well. He was placed in the NICU under an oxygen hood and was given an IV and antibiotics to protect him from infection. He has been doing really well and was moved to a room and is off the IV and on a canula for oxygen now. I am hoping that he will be able to head home Sunday, but it quite possibly could be Monday.

We had not decided on a name, but finally have now. We named him Emmett Zane! He weighed 7 lbs, was 19 inches long and he looks like Zane. You’ll have to wait for pictures as the camera was out in the truck and I haven’t taken it into the NICU with me.

I will try and do a better job at keeping our blog a little more up to date!

Is it Really 2010?

I feel like the biggest Slacker with this blog. I have so many pictures and adventures that I have still not posted from last year. I still plan to post them, because I want to make a book for 2009! So, for anyone that does still check in, I am sorry!
So far 2010 has been good! The only bad news is that my Dad took a job in Squaw Valley, and my parents will be moving (once again). I guess it’s good news for my Dad, but they will be what seems like soooo far away. An even greater reason to keep this blog updated.
Barrett turned two in January and still makes me laugh everyday. He is such a character! Kyla, is still our sweet princess (most of the time) and is enjoying preschool.  She really enjoys spending the night with Grandma!
A friend and I have started a Project365 blog! Check it out here!

And what’s a post without pictures, so here is one of us snowshoeing in January! Barrett wasn’t very happy here.  Maybe it will get better when he can manage a pair of snowshoes himself!

Buddy the Elf!

We started a new tradition this year with the kids! After Thanksgiving Santa dropped an elf off at our house one evening, Kyla named him “Buddy”. He reports back to Santa every night on Kyla and Barrett, but when he comes back to the house he usually has gotten into something or has brought something back.
This morning he had made a maze in the house with Saran Wrap! Each morning Kyla gets excited to go downstairs and see where Buddy is or what he has gotten into! She then comes into our room with an excited face and says,”you have to come and see what Buddy did, you are not going to believe it.”

So here are a few pictures from this morning.

Roasting Marshmallows

One of our favorite things to do is sit by the firepit and roast marshmallows or just enjoy each others company! Barrett loves the fire and makes us a little nervous when he’s walking around it! These pictures are very grainy, but it was very dark. We had friends over to enjoy the fire with us.

Kyla’s Birthday!

Yes it was back in June, and I am just now posting some pictures from it. Oh, I don’t know when I will ever get caught up, but it is still my goal. (before the end of the year?). We’ll see!
Kyla turned 4 this year! And we just had a family party! My mom was in a car accident that day and was in the hospital, so my parents were unable to make it! I look at pictures and videos of Kyla growing up and it makes me a bit sad that another year has gone by! She is now in preschool and loves it! Everyday she will ask me if she has School and gets a bit disappointed on the days she doesn’t!
Here are a few pictures from her Birthday celebration this year!

Kyla was so excited to get the movie “CARS”. We had it, but I lost our DVD’s the week before when we were in Utah. It’s a sad story!
