Back In Commision!!

I have been without a vehicle for the past two weeks! Go figure, we sold the car last month and two weeks ago the Cruiser gives us problems.

It started on our way out to Montrose (we didn’t realize this at the time). We were driving on Hwy 50 towards Monarch, while going up a hill the Cruiser started to heat up a little. Zane didn’t think much of it and turned the heater on a little and the gauge came back down. It didn’t heat up at all the rest of the trip. Well two weeks ago we went out to Bill Moore Lake (Will post pics on another post) and on the way home the Cruiser started to heat up. This time we were going downhill on I-70 before you get to c-470. There was also this odd vibration. Zane and I looked at each other and said, “that does not sound good”. Once we stopped at the light at C-470 and Kipling the Cruiser was really heating up, the vibration was worse, and it was idleing so weird. We made it home and parked in the driveway, I got out and noticed smoke coming out from underneath the Cruiser and Brian noticed fluid coming out. Zane and Brian heard the radiator boiling, so they let it cool off, checked the fluid levels, and added coolant. They then started it up and it was blowing smoke and idleing rough, one of the cylinders wasn’t firing. So they shut it off, rechecked the fluids and it mysteriously needed a bunch more coolant. They filled it up again, tried to take a spark plug out to diagnose the miss fire. By this point it was midnight, so they decided to leave it and look at it on the next day. They put the spark plugs back in and went to start it to put it in the garage and it made a terrible sound and wouldn’t start. Come to find out the head gasket was blown and the cylinders were filling up with water. So the Cruiser sat in our driveway for two weeks until we could figure out a game plan.

Matt came over yesterday and took apart the Engine with Zane (in our driveway). They later ran over to Toyota and got a bunch of parts that the Cruiser would need to be fixed, among those was new spark plugs, a head gasket, fuel filter, etc.. They came back and started putting the Cruiser back together. This morning Matt came back over and they finished putting the Cruiser back together and it is now running again. I can’t thank Matt enough for his help!

Here is the morning of the Big project, tools ready to go!

This is the start of taking the engine apart, the intake and exhaust are off the engine.

This is the wiring harness (all 8 feet of it) hanging out the engine compartment.

This is with the valve cover off.

Here all the twin cams are off.

The head is removed and those are our cylinders.

Here is Brian (on the left), Matt (on the right), and Zane (under the Cruiser) working!

And here is the Cruiser put back together and running. The white smoke is from coolant and other impurities being burned out of the system.

The guys took the Cruiser out for a test drive.

A Kid Sized Village

A few weeks ago we went to Tiny Town with the Robinson’s!

Kyla loved the train, I think she would of ridden on it all day if she could. The train had a caboose that only children were allowed to ride in and that was where Kyla enjoyed the ride. She is the second child from the left.

She also enjoyed exploring all the buildings. She liked it more than I was expecting her too.

While we were exploring the buildings it started to drizzle, we thought it would last a few minutes, but it actually started to pour and we ended up staying dry under some of the trees! The rain cooled it down quite a bit!

The kids enjoyed the playground at the end of the town.

Small Slice of Summer

Well Barrett has not been one to eat pureed foods or rice cereal. So I have opted for the mesh bag feeder. It allows me to put pieces of fruit or veggies inside and then he can chew and suck on it and get the food out in tiny pieces. He seems to like this method of eating much better than from a spoon. When I try feeding him with a spoon I can usually get two spoonfuls in his mouth before he holds his lips closed. The only draw back with the mesh bag feeder is that he gets sooooo messy. Oh well, at least he’s eating!

Wedded Bliss

We spent this past weekend in Montrose for Brian and Amber’s Wedding. We left Thursday morning to be there for the Wedding Rehearsal that afternoon. Zane was a groomsmen and Kyla was the flower girl! Friday Kyla and I attended a Bridal Brunch and then we spent the afternoon swimming at the pool.
Saturday was the big day. The wedding was outside at Ridgway State Park in the afternoon. The weather couldn’t have been better, it was cloudy but the rain didn’t come until the reception was over and we were on our way to drop the Newlywed’s off in Ouray!
Kyla did awesome. She did forget to throw the flowers as she was walking down the aisle. However, when standing up front during the ceremony she remembered and started to throw the flowers out onto the stairs. One of the bridesmaids was going to stop her, but she realized that everyone in the congregation thought it was so cute. I did her hair thanks to a friend showing me what to do and it stayed. Kyla was wiped as she wasn’t able to take a nap, she fell asleep when the dancing started.
We got back about midnight on Sunday, which happened to be Zane’s birthday!

I have so many pictures that I have them in a slideshow. The slideshow is just a few, but some of the better ones I thought. Just click the picture below!

First Haircuts

I took Barrett and Kyla to get their hairs trimmed on Tuesday. I actually was just taking Barrett, but Kyla decided that she wanted a cut as well. Luckily Grandma called us that morning to tell us she was on her way to Denver to go to the Temple. She ended up meeting us at the salon and she helped hold Barrett so I could take pictures! They both did wonderfully, and Grandma too!! Barrett stayed occupied with a toy. I have trimmed his hairs before, but he was starting to move to much and follow the scissors (made me a little nervous).
Kyla was playing in the Jeep chair while Barrett was getting is hairs cut and afterwards she told me she wanted to get a haircut. I actually have wanted to get her hairs trimmed for a while, so it was perfect. Thank you Mom!

Barrett being occupied by a new toy. It worked better than I thought.

Kyla kept looking at herself in the mirror and making faces.

Now I just need to get her to the Dentist!

Babies Galore!

We have had many babies born in our ward this year! We live in a pretty established ward so there aren’t a whole lot of young couples and families, however, all of us that are young (I am still young, right!) all drank the same water because it seems as all of us had a new addition(s) this year.

Several of us went to the park a couple times last week, and although I didn’t get pictures of kids playing or running through the water I took a picture of our babies lined up on blankets. I know it’s not the best shot and I think it’s only half of the babies, but I thought it was funny how they were all laying there in a row!
