Climber

Barrett has been crawling for a few months now. It started as an army crawl and now he crawls on his hands. He likes to follow Kyla around and tries to climb up the stairs, he only makes it to the first step. Kyla usually goes up the stairs and says, “come on Barrett.”
The other morning while we were waiting for Kyla to wake up I took some pictures of him on the stairs.

A Surprise Shower!

I helped throw a surprise Baby Shower for a friend a few weeks ago! It actually stayed a surprise, which I couldn’t believe. I felt bad keeping it a secret, because I am sure she thought she was not going to have a shower at all, but it was so worth it! We Love You H and we can’t wait for that baby boy to arrive!!
I did not get a picture of her when she came in because I had left my camera in the living room.

Here is the invitation that I made.

Some cupcake pops from Bakerella’s site that we made for the shower. They were so good.

I made this paper cake for favor’s. I was wanting to top it with a stuffed giraffe, but I couldn’t find anything cute so I settled for the baby’s name on the top! I filled each piece of cake with hershey kisses!

And here are a few pictures of H opening up some gifts. We were able to get several people to go in on a few big items! It was a great surprise!!

Labor Day Drive

We took a drive with the Jaramillo’s, the Mayne’s, and the Henderson’s on Labor Day. We drove from Gypsum to Leadville on all backroads. It was beautiful and I am sure it is gorgeous now with the leaves changing.

We stopped to look at a waterfall down below. The Jaramillo’s jeep is in front of our Cruiser.

We came across a lot of Wild Raspberries, which we stopped several times to pick.

The kids were throwing rocks almost every time we would stop. I thought this picture was funny because of the look on Max’s face as he is handing rocks to Kyla. It was good to see them get along this time. Usually Kyla only wants to play with Cassie and Max gets left out.

Max and Kyla!!

Here is a picture of the sign at the top of Hagerman Pass. It was so cold up there and windy!

In Leadville we ate at “The Grill”, its a Mexican restaurant. It was very good, but the only problem was Kyla had eaten some Reeses Pieces and by the time we were loading up in the Cruiser to leave she was throwing up. Luckily Zane caught most of it, so her car seat was still clean (for the most part). We cleaned her up and headed home. Poor Thing.

It’s Great to be Eight!!

Over Labor Day weekend we went up to Gypsum to celebrate Cassie’s Eighth birthday. She was baptized on Saturday. We always enjoy going to spend time with the Mayne’s and Jaramillo’s! It’s our home away from home. Before Cassie’s baptisms, Kyla and Missy’s kids were playing outside in the irrigation ditch.

Here is Cassie and her Dad!

Cassie with her family!

And of course I needed to throw a picture in here of Derrick. He always does this GQ thing (tries anyway) when I have my camera out.

After her baptism we went back to the Mayne’s so Cassie could open up her gifts. Here is a picture of her with her first set of scriptures! After gifts we went to Beaujo’s in Glenwood!

And here is one of Max playing ball while Cassie was opening gifts.

A Great Bath!

Kyla found a new spot for her bath at Grandma’s!! Grandma was giving Barrett a bath in her Laundry room sink and Kyla wanted a turn. She actually no longer cares about taking a bath in this sink, but now she loves to take a rain shower at Grandma’s house!

Drinking Mate!

Mate is a family tradition, well not for Zane so I do not drink it on a regular basis. When we get together with family we usually drink mate, chat, and eat bread & cheese!! Since we stayed over at mom’s house while David & Vanessa were visiting we had mate in the morning. Kyla loves taking part in drinking mate and she sure knows it if you skip her turn!! David was holding Barrett and every time it was David’s turn Barrett tried to take part as well!!

Visitors from DC

David and Vanessa were here back in August and I meant to post these pictures then. Oops I guess a little time slipped by. I actually have several posts to make and get caught up!

We all met up for Sunday dinner at my parents house in Colorado Springs.
We will see David and Vanessa again in November, unless they decide they miss us soooo much they need to come visit sooner!!

Here is a family picture we took before dinner and before Shar left.

Here is Alicia and Barrett

Barrett has quite the hair, it always wants to stick up so I have decided to help it out!!

Oh my, a picture of Zane and I (that’s rare)!

Why would I……….

bake when we have no A/C? I love homemade baked goods. And when a friend brought over a giant zuchinni I had to make something with it. So I have been trying out new recipes and of course it gets a little (a lot) warm in the house after having the oven on.
No pictures of the zuchinni or the goods I made with it. But I did take pictures of these brownies! They are oh so good, but I highly recommend a cold tall glass of milk to go with them!

Chocolate Caramel Brownies

1 box German Chocolate Cake mix
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 bag wrapped caramels (50 individually wrapped caramels)
1/3 cup evaporated milk

1. Mix together the cake mix, melted butter and 1/2 cup evaporated milk. Mix until well incorporated. Press half of the batter into a 9×13 inch greased pan and bake at 350 degrrees for 7 minutes.

2. While batter is baking, melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. I melted it in the microwave at 30 sec intervals and at half power (stirring at each 30 sec) until completely melted. When brownies are done, poor caramel on top of the cooked portion of brownies. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of caramel. Dot the remaining brownie mix on top of chips and caramel. Return to oven and bake for another 11 minutes. Cool in refrigerator for a bout 2 hours!

Bill Moore Lake

Two weeks ago we took the Cruiser out and went to Bill Moore Lake. The 4×4 trail is easy going and the view at the end is gorgeous! We brought lunch with us and ate it at the top. There were quite a few people out on the trail and it was a bit chilly up there. At the lake we saw some mountain goat up the hill side, they were hard to get a picture of because they camouflaged so well into the hill side. It was a great day and we were glad to make it home before the Cruiser died!

Here is a picture of the goat.

And here is Kyla with her dirty little face. If there are rocks and dirt she is in them. She did enjoy all the beautiful flowers as well!
