Well, it took some time but Kyla is FINALLY potty trained. Many people, including our pediatrician, told me not to push it and that it will click one day and happen. I was really wondering if this was going to “happen” for us. And that is exactly how it went. We tried and bribed Kyla and nothing seemed to work. Zane came home one evening with Mentos, and it must have inspired Kyla because she was excited to get one every time she used her potty chair.
So, later that week Zane and I had gone to bed one evening and I heard our door open (it must have around 1am). I was pretending to still be asleep, but waiting for a tap on the shoulder and instead the light to our bathroom went on and I realized it was Kyla going potty. At this point Zane and I looked at each other and waited for her to come to one of our sides, but she ran out of our room, making sure to close our bedroom door and continued into her room, (slamming her door) which woke up Barrett. I got up to tend to Barrett and expected Kyla to be awake as well, but she was sound asleep.
The next morning I told her she could have a mentos because she used the bathroom at night. She looked at me like I was crazy and said, “No I didn’t”. Uhm, well ok!
Barrett has shown interest in the potty chair. He likes to take the cushion off it and dump it in the toilet, he loves unrolling the toilet paper, and he likes to try to flush the toilet. So, we have to remind anyone that comes to our house to make sure and keep the lid on the toilet down and close the door to the bathroom.
