Telluride, Colorado

We went to Montrose for Memorial Day Weekend with our good friends Brian and Amber. We spent a day in Ouray, another day in Telluride, and on the way home we stopped at the Black Canyon!! We had a lot of fun and Kyla got her first sunburn. Oops. She didn’t seem to notice.
While in Telluride we rode the Gondola, walked through town and enjoyed ice cream! I will try to upload more pics to a photo album. These pictures are of Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride. We would like to go back in the summer and do more exploring.

Bridal Veil Falls is Colorado’s highest cascade, with a 365 foot drop.
The structure at the top of the falls was built in the late 1800’s. It was a hydroelectric power plant that provided electricity for the Smuggler-Union Mine. It is now registered as a national hystorical lanmark, but is on private property. The owner renovated the plant and lives there with his family.

Montgomery Reservoir

We went for a drive on Saturday. We were hoping to go on Boreas Pass, but it was still closed. We decided to visit Montgomery Reservoir, which is on Hoosier Pass. We drove up to this old mine and hiked around a little. This is why we love Colorado so much!!

Kyla enjoyed throwing rocks with Daddy in the water.

Playing Around

Yesterday we were at Granma’s house and Kyla was throwing a tennis ball. I thought it was so cute how she kicks her little leg up when she throws.

Then she was being silly. I had a hard time getting the focus on her and not her pants.

Animal Run Ins

On Saturday we went for an off road drive just a bit north of Boulder! We were driving along and came across a few deer! At first I could only get a picture of their backsides and then finally they turned to look.

And then on Sunday when we stopped to take the pictures of Kyla and I, there was a fox in the parking lot. At first he started to come right towards me and then he took off!

My Hat

Here is a picture of Kyla in her new hat. She usually will not keep it on long enough for me to take a picture, but this time she did! She only wears the hat when she thinks she needs to, which is not very often.

Mount Falcon

Kyla and I went for a hike yesterday! Kyla enjoyed the scenery and hiked a little herself. The first picture is of the east wing of the Walker’s Home, at least the remnants. The Walker’s home was struck by lighting in 1918. John Walker’s dream was to build a summer home for the presidents of the United States just 3/4 miles east of this house.

It definitely wasn’t the best day for a picture of the city, nice brown cloud.

And of course, I have to share a picture of Kyla!
